Hi, I’m Maria. The owner and creative director of Naturalista Swimwear. First of all, thank you for visiting our page and supporting the Naturalista swimwear brand.
So how did Naturalista Swimwear came to be? I’m a technical diver and a water sports enthusiast, probably just like you! Besides that, I am also a tailor and a fashion design student. For years I struggled to find the perfect swimwear for my water activities. It seemed like most options in the market prioritised glamour over practicality. I often felt like my only choices were overly revealing bikinis that didn't suit my body type (and didn't even stay in place!) or a plain black Speedo. Why was it so hard to find something that wouldn't give me a ‘wedgie’ or a muffing top and also didn't look like my grandma's swimsuit?
So, in late 2022 I decided to combine the two things I enjoy the most and bring some awesome watersports-oriented swimsuits to the market. Since then, of course, it’s been a very long journey. In 2023, in the middle of finalising all the details of the first collection I got pregnant with my daughter. I went from being able to try out everything I was designing to not being able to wear absolutely anything due to my growing belly. Of course, this delayed the process of finally launching the brand but I took it as an opportunity to do things even better rather than a setback.
I have personally tested and meticulously considered every single detail of these designs, from the way it fits in the body, to the choice of fabrics and materials. I wanted each design to be comfortable, flattering, figure-enhancing and of course fun.
I am not a small woman and if I learned something in my tailoring years it is the following: there are no wrong bodies, just wrong clothes. I believe that when you feel good, you radiate confidence, and that's when the magic of wearing the right bikini happens.
